OZschwitz: Statist pigs steal $1m of cannabis plants from free trader

A vast amount of cannabis has been seized after more "hydro houses" were raided by police in Sydney and the NSW south coast.

A search warrant executed at Carpenter Street in Colyton at 6am (AEST) on Wednesday revealed an elaborate hydroponics cannabis set-up "spread throughout all rooms of the house", police say.

About 292 cannabis plants were seized with an estimated street value of $1 million, they say.

A 45-year-old Cabramatta man was arrested at the scene and charged with cultivating a prohibited plant greater than a large commercial quantity.

A simultaneous search at a house on Rugby Street, Cambridge Park, revealed another hydroponics set up and about 82 cannabis plants.

A 41-year-old woman has been charged with cultivating a prohibited plant greater than a commercial quantity, operating a drug premises and using electricity without authority.

The pair have been refused bail to appear at Central Local Court later on Wednesday.

Police say those two raids were conducted as a result of investigations by Strike Force Pennington.

In the last month the strike force says it has cracked a major drug syndicate, seizing more than 2,700 cannabis plants with an estimated street value of $10 million from 19 houses across western Sydney.

Twelve people have now been charged over the raids.

In another raid unrelated to Strike Force Pennington, police say they discovered a "sophisticated and elaborate" hydroponics set-up and almost $400,000 worth of cannabis in the NSW south coast.

Officers raided the house in Windley Road, Wandandian, about 9am (AEST)on Wednesday and found the hydroponics set-up in a number of shipping containers.

About 165 cannabis plants were seized with an estimated street value of $330,000 plus cannabis leaf with an estimated value of $55,000.

A 28-year-old man has been charged with cultivating a prohibited plant greater than a commercial quantity, supplying cannabis greater than an indictable quantity and possessing cannabis greater than an indictable quantity.

He was refused bail to appear at Nowra Local Court later on Thursday.
